The Osmani Centre for Peace and Security Studies (OCPASS) Foundation began its journey in May 2025. The absence of a ''Think Tank'' dedicated solely to defence and security matters had been felt for a very long time. The Chief of General Staff Branch at Army Headquarters floated the idea in the wake of the July 2024 Revolution, and the Army Chief of Staff Secretariat considered it with pragmatism. A group of retired Subject Matter Experts from army background were shortlisted. Their consent was obtained to establish and run an independent ''Think Tank''. It was agreed that the Centre would maintain full autonomy and be guided solely by national interest.
The emblem of OCPASS features a green outer border encircling a globe. The name and motto of the Centre are inscribed along this green border. Inside the globe, Bangladesh’s strategic location is highlighted within the Ind-Pacific region. The use of dotted patterns to depict the world map symbolises digitalisation and the information age. Additionally, the green of the outer border and the red marking the map of Bangladesh represent the colours of our national flag.
