Brigadier General Mustafa Kamal Rusho (Retd) was born on 15 February 1968. He served with distinction in the Bangladesh Army for 34 years and retired in February 2023 with the rank of Brigadier General.
He holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Chittagong (1988) and a Master of Defence Studies from the National University (2002). He further pursued academic excellence by earning a Master of Science in Military Science and Applied Gunnery from the University of Chittagong in 2014 and completing Part I of an MPhil program at the Bangladesh University of Professionals in 2010.
During his military career, Brigadier General Rusho held significant leadership roles, including Chairman of six educational institutions and Proyash, a specialized school for children with special needs. His academic and strategic interests span international security and counterterrorism, on which he has published numerous articles in leading English-language newspapers. He has also served as a guest speaker at various national and international platforms, including the Bangladesh Institute of Peace Support Operation Training (BIPSOT).
Following his retirement, he joined Radiant Business Consortium Ltd. in February 2023 as Director of the Education Development Program. In this role, he has successfully launched an ICT and Language Centre and a primary and secondary school in Jhenaidah. Current initiatives under his leadership include the development of a collegiate school and an Islamic institute.
Brigadier General Rusho currently serves as the Research Director at the Osmani Centre for Peace and Security Studies (OCPASS), where his research interests include environmental issues, climate change, gender, and human rights.
He is married and a proud father of one son and one daughter.
